The Deal Is Off

We withdrew our offer to buy the house with the teal dining room. Unfortunately the house needed more work than we were willing to put into it. Our inspector said that he thought the floor in the master bedroom and bathroom was starting to sag because the wall was not built directly above the wall below it. Never mind the other problems and the fact that we didn’t even get a complete inspection because the owner hadn’t paid her bills and the water and electricity had been shut off. The builder is apparently a jerk and maybe in cahoots with whomever was supposed to inspect it in 2003 when it was first built.

Which really sucks because it was definitely the nicest looking house I have seen so far. I guess it ties with the house with the wet crawlspace. Both really great looking houses, same incompetent builder. So we lose our inspection money and are back out in the world of house-searching. I saw five more homes this morning. Nothing very interesting.

Boy! That was a tough one! The house was cute. But the inspection money was well spent. The right house will turn up. Hang in there. Love you two!

trying to comment again… very disapointing, but a lesson learned. sigh.

(A sucessful comment! Yay!) We are both glad that we got an inspection, that’s for sure. Better to find out now, versus having a roof or our financial stability cave in on us.

Mostly just bad luck – but we’re both optimistic about finding another place soon!

It’s such an emotional roller coaster! Same thing happened to my brother and his wife – they found a house they loved, got the offer accepted, had the closing date, and the inspection turned up basement flooding problems, electrical problems, etc… so they were pretty bummed out, too. But it’s all a learning experience, and once you guys find a place, you’ll be glad you put in all the hard work and effort. We really hope everything works out for you guys!

Meh, I’m not usually one for blind optimism, but I’m sure that you two will find the house that really appeals to you before you know it.
