Today I am 17 weeks along, just 23 weeks left to go. I still get nauseous sometimes, but nowhere near as bad as the constant nausea of the first trimester. My belly is getting bigger, not to where people can tell that I am pregnant versus just having gained a lot of weight in my middle region… but I can certainly tell.
Wednesday we go back to the doctor for another ultrasound. They should be able to tell us boy or girl. Of course when Kim went for an ultrasound this early they told her girl and we all know how that turned out. As far as names go, we are thinking Sarah Beth for a girl and maybe Edward Barrett for a boy, with the nickname of Ted. Those names are not set in stone, just what we are thinking this morning.
The cats continue on in their exceptional cuddliness. Moses is now a couch-cat, which totally blows our minds. He’s up there every day, multiple times a day, snuggling up to us. He’s like a whole new cat.
Pat just got back from the barber shop and dropping his suit off at the cleaners. I, on the other hand, am keeping the couch warm this morning. I did make cinnamon crunch cake, so that counts as something… And someone needs to cuddle the kittens.
Oh sweet sweet cinnamon crunch cake… so very tasty.
Barrett is such a kick arse name!!!!!!!!!! It’s a Mighty Mighty Name!
I have to agree with Matty about “Barrett”.
LOL
Probably not for the same reasons. :)
This is the Barrett that Matt is referring to I belive.
cinnamon crunch cake…oh my.
I had two uncle “Ed”s, my favorite uncle of all was Uncle Ed Whelan in VT. The lesser known was Ed (Ned) Feeley the train engineer. Although your father said to leave it alone, I am just saying… when you give a kid a nick name, as cute as Teddy Bear will be, when he gets to preK they’ll make him write Edward, so teach him both! I had a great aunt Sarah Jane, who we, for some odd and unknown reason, called “Doo Doo” like the extinct bird. My parents thought about naming me Sarah Jane… (little doodoo?), lucky for me Grace the Third was available.
What ever the name, the kid will be amazing, beautiful, smart and talented…
and so loved.
Train engineer? You should totally be blogging about obscure train engineering uncles.
I think we’ll probably adopt a policy of stopping bizarre nicknames right on the spot. It seems a little rough, but I feel as though you’d just want to be firm about not letting people assign strange names to your kids. Tough Name Love we’ll call it. To prevent any sort of social awkwardness though, we’ll also publish a list of unproved nicknames (like Little doo-doo, Teddy Grahmn Snack Child, or any reference to poo, poo-doo or do-do. Neither of us was very into Teddy Bear either.)
And writing names before kindergarden? That’s intense! Was I writing my name at that age?
Nick-names aside, we’re both really excited about the whole having-a-kid thing :)
Of course you were writing your name in preK! All capitals however, now I know you have to teach lower case as well. About 30% of my prek kids are reading. Raise the bar Mrs. Doran, they need to be phonemically aware by 5 years of age.
scary, huh?
Yes, Uncle Ned and Uncle Paul Feeley (both frequent visitors to the Happy Swallow in Framingham) were engineers. Scary thought. Drove those big engines down along rt 135.
The “No Nickname” policy worked with you and Kristen for a while, until you got into the real world… And Ms Sokol still calls me Ms Door-ran. Luckily I like her kid.
xxoo
Speaking of Framingham (and diving almost totally off-topic), this site: http://thisisframingham.com/
…has a bunch of cool posts about Framingham area businesses and restaurants, like the Happy Swallow and The 400 (which is totally different then it was in 2000).
I agree, no silly nicknames. I have only had two people insist on calling me “Kris” – and they were both professors who would decide if I graduated or not… I let it slide. I like Sarah with an “h” on the end, more balanced. But I guess that is my OCD speaking!! Boy or girl, it will be an adorable baby!
( I bet I can guess which 30% of your kids are reading, Mom. The 30% on the spectrum? I’m lucky if 30% of my kids know their first and last name by the time they leave. Ahh, the joys of SPED. )
Love
