Calling Top Bunk
These are busy days! Kate’s been super busy setting up stuff in Ted’s room, washing his clothes and various face cloths, and other baby-prep activities. The past few weeks I’ve been doing lots of freelance work, trying to bring in some extra cash so we can pay for this kid.
This weekend we’ll be heading off to parenting/birthing classes so we know what to expect in the coming months. I expect less sleep and the no-doubt strange sensation that someone whom I cannot see will suddenly become a full fledged member of the After Victory family. I expect it to be awesome as well. Sleepily awesome.
We also have a new bed in our extra bedroom/office. It’s pretty excellent, as it takes advantage of the ample vertical space we have in our house. I’ve never owned a bunk bed before, but always thought they were kind of cool and really dig the fact that it doesn’t take up the entire room’s floorspace. It’s also been nice because when I’m upstairs working on freelance stuff, Kate can hang out on the bunk bed and I don’t feel quite so lonely.
As an added bonus, we already have Ted’s next bed and he totally doesn’t even know it yet.
We picked it up at Ikea a few weekends ago and transported it home in my car, which was an intense experience. While my car can hold a great deal of stuff, fitting a bunk bed and two mattresses in the back made for a tight fit. We couldn’t close the hatch, but did manage to successfully get it home without incident.

Quite the space age looking bunk beds! Very nice
not big brown and bulky like the old ones. good job. Gotta tell you Andy was watching Lost w/me
tonite and he doesn’t usually watch it. I told him if he wanted to know what was going on he had
to ask you as I only watch it but really have no idea most of the time what the heck is going on!
I feel like I’M the one in a time warp!

oooo… bunk beds!! Thats pretty cool – pretty high up on sleep-over potential too (do boys do that?). I’m impressed you got that in your car. Reminds me of the time when we bought our fake Christmas tree and tried to get it into the corolla. That was silly. We ended up taking it out of the box and bringing the empty box back into BJ’s for them to get rid of! We miss you both and are REALLY looking forward to our trip! First though, 10 inches of snow tonight to get through.
Love

I don’t know, Pat. I think that YOU think you own a minivan! I can’t believe the stuff you manage to pack into a Celica! :)

Bunks are great. When I was a kid we had them, but your grandparents would not set them and I was never sure why. Maybe they were afraid that I would push you Uncle John off the top bunk!
