Ted in the year 5769
In the year 5769, according to the Jewish calendar anyway. I know you were thinking that this photo was of Ted three millennia from now, embracing the Lobster People.
And how did I learn this? I used the Wolfram Alpha website to type in the date and learn about it. It acts like a search engine (like Google) but instead of returning a list of websites as a result, it returns data. Lots of useful data. And lots of data that might not be as useful, but still cool to know (like knowing what year it is according the Jewish calendar).
For instance, typing in Raleigh, North Carolina brings up results that include a map, population, weather, and lots more information. Typing pizza brings up a wealth of nutritional information about my favorite food. It knows all sorts of cool things. And it can do math!
They have a very cool video that sort of explains more about it. For those who need to know things, for those who use the internet for research, this sort of thing probably will make their lives easier.
Makes me wonder about how Ted will get information in 5775 or so… will doing his own math problem not be something he needs to know how to do? Will he just need to know why he’s doing the math? Maybe not… but maybe he’ll have fast access to lots more information at once. Maybe knowing where to get information or knowing how to search for it will be much more important.
As long as he’s friendly with the Lobster people.
