Here’s Ted and I, looking at some photos on my iPod. This boy will be ridiculously comfortable with technology. When I was his age, the available tech was somewhat less exciting.
Ted turns 18 months old today, a year-and-a-half. When he wears jeans, a polo shirt and a baseball hat, he looks like he’s 8. He’s brilliant now and can count to three. Tonight we put three beans on the table, and he counted them “1-2-3″. He’s already on track to be much better at math than his dad.
His vocabulary is expanding every day. He at least tries to repeat most words we ask him to say. ’Helicopter’ and ‘bicycle’ are his favorite words. Listing all the words he can say now would take a while.
He can use words in combination now, too, sort of. Tonight he said “Uh-Oh. Beans” while we were eating supper – right after he tossed a bean over the edge. Not quite a full sentence, but getting there.
Sure Zoe looks a little outraged in the above photo, but Ted and the cats are getting along much better now that Ted can pet them without hitting them in the face. He even gives them treats, cementing their friendship.
In the photo below, Ted’s having a classic mid-meal nap. Eating and sleeping are things he does better now than he use to. He sleeps most nights from 8:30 through 7ish in the morning, much to the delight of his parents. We usually don’t give him turkey before putting him the crib.
Ted still loves coloring, especially on his new picnic table. On our flight down south to see my folks, he colored on both legs of the journey, and it made for happy flights.
And this is what year-and-a-half-old Ted looks like.

Beautiful and smart, and yes, children are always smarter than their parents in the ways of technology and in our cases math. A nice post, thanks for sharing.
