Ted is twenty-eight months old

Twenty-eight sounds like a high number.  Not as high as 36, though, which is the number of inches tall he is these days. He has grown almost an inch in two months!  We wonder if this is contributing to him having some trouble sleeping - He goes through sleep-resistant phases like this every once in awhile.

Speaking of sleep, he took his first solo nap on the couch.  He’s got some pretty stringent sleep requirements, and rarely (if ever) sleeps anywhere besides his bed, the car, or his pack-n-play.  This particular day he had skipped his usual nap time, and after a swim in the community pool, passed out.  Oh yes, we took a picture.

He’s got a lot to say when he’s awake.  In July he said things like:

“I’ve got a great idea! We could watch tv upstairs!”

“That sound like a plan?”

“ Gotta be quick.”

“I want to do things!”

“I did it!”

He just started using the word “page” instead of the word he really means. For instance, “Put that in the page,” (where page means bowl.) or “Can I ride on the page,” (where page is grass.).  He uses “page” for words he definitely knows, not sure why.

Ted loves adventure. This past month we headed up to New England for our Fourth of July vacation. We visited family, went to the zoo and the beach, swam in Auntie Kim’s pool, camped in her backyard, ate his first S’more, went to the parade, watched fireworks, went to Boston, rode the subway, went on the carousel in Boston Common, checked out the ducks in the Public Garden, and checked out the view from the top of the Prudential building!

We also went to the beach back in North Carolina. We took a day trip and checked out Fort Macon, went to Atlantic Beach, and checked out the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

Also:

  • He is very good at doing giant floor puzzles on his own.
  • He has also been playing memory match. He seems to really get it so far and it good at following the rules and taking turns.
  • He rode his first skateboard.
  • He is really into dinosaurs.

Straight A report card! Maybe A- on the “page” confusion, but that will come. What a busy boy.

What a barrel of fun that boy!
We enjoyed the July 4th visit. He and Jack are a blast together.

I love that Ted is looking at “life as art” and his world is a page–perhaps where anything is possible??? Kinda like Harold and his puple crayon…
Can’t wait to see him on a skateboard! Sounds like FUN!!!
