Ted is twenty-nine months old, plus a few days. He’s recently taken up cooking, as seen in the photo below. We hope that when he grows up, in addition to being a doctor and plumber and electrician, that he’ll also cook delicious meals for us whenever we come to visit.
Ted’s sporting the pre-buzz cut look in the above photo, but not in the one below. Kate used some clippers and he looks very handsome with a short summer cut.
Here he’s looking at his picture dictionary (thanks!), which he reads almost daily in his quest for knowledge. He’s been very into books recently, reading with Kate throughout the day and with me before bed.
With the picture dictionary, he’ll point to an object he knows and say ‘What’s that?’ to one of us. We can either state what it is, ask him if he knows what it is or try and trick him (and then he responds with what it is). I’m not sure why he does this… maybe some sort of reinforcement for him to hear it from someone else. Just glad he’s picking up the lingo.
He’s also big into stating the letter that a word starts with, like “A is for airplane” and “M is for mom”. He’s pretty good at guessing the correct letter, although “B” and “P” stump him occasionally.
Auntie Christine came for a visit recently and got to spend an action packed weekend with us, including a trip into Raleigh to see many North Carolina fire engines. We’ll post more photos of that later this month. Ted does love out-of-state company.
Auntie also treated us to a showing of Curious George Live, which was Ted’s first arena show. He did really well.
Here’s Ted drawing with some chalk on the front stoop. He hasn’t been coloring as much with crayons has he had been a few months ago (although he still does). He also plays with playdough and does painting, mostly during the day when home with Kate.

And he is very yogic in his cooking and step straddling. Such a neat kid. Happy he loves his dictionary. xxoo
Glad to see he has taken up cooking.
Maybe he would agree to help me make waffles while he is here.
Very cool post thank you sharing. Let me submit it to RSS Feeds.
