Ok – not exactly nesting – more like pre-nesting. :)
This is Chris – the Guest Blogger. I’ve been enjoying some quality time here with Kate and Pat and the kitties. Kate and I hit the shops on Saturday. We oohed and ahhed over lots of baby stuff – from outfits to cribs. Kate and Pat are now registered at Babies-r-Us and Target. Kate had already picked out a crib and had an idea about the bedding (which she showed me and I totally love). We registered for strollers (yes Kim – I talked her into the same one you got) and car seats and all kinds of baby equipment – no clothes though – Ted has a slightly older super stylish older cousin named Jack. :) Saturday night she took me to Five Guys – a greasy but delicious burger joint – which I had heard much about.
Sunday was “the meal”. We were going to make a pre-Thanksgiving turkey. But I forgot about the whole turkey being frozen thing – so we had to settle for chickens – still tasty. Kate and I prepared the chickens and got them into the oven. Then the three of us headed for a walk around the neighborhood. Again – so many more houses! I would say at least 20 since I was here in May! When we got back Kate and I fussed around the kitchen some more getting the “fixins” ready. We had chicken, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce and for dessert – apple crisp.

Monday – Pat had to work. :( But Kate and I were able to continue with both our cooking and shopping adventures. We made chicken pot pie and Kate got some new clothes to accommodate a little extra room for Ted. My work plans changed this week – so I am staying an extra day. I’ll have a low key morning with the cats – but Kate should be home in the early afternoon and I don’t leave until late tomorrow night. So far so good and with a bonus day…

For my third visit to NC, I brought a posse. Mom arrived Thursday and helped Kate prepare for the mini-invasion. Kim, Anne and I flew in Friday morning. Kate rented us a minivan and off we went. We had a nice lunch at an outdoor cafe. Kate and I had chicken salad, Anne had a salad with lots of jalepeno peppers, Kim had quiche and Mom had turkey plain-plain-plain (as labeled on her receipt). A quick trip to Starbucks and then off to the Farmer’s Market. We got a great deal on some Hydrangeas, some strawberries, organic lotions and soaps, fresh peas and flowers. There is a lot of interesting stuff to see at the Farmer’s Market. On the way home Kate and I ran into Super Walmart to get some gas for the grill and a few other assorted sundries.

Once home there was a big push to get the grill assembled, veggies cut and skewered, chicken prepared, streamers strung, balloons blown up, cakes frosted and strawberries dipped in chocolate. We finished most before Kat and Matt arrived. Kat and Matt seem really cool. It is good to know that Kate and Pat have found some really nice people to hang out with down here. We had a nice little birthday party for Kate. Although she had to help get things together which is normally rather taboo in our family – I think she had a good birthday. :)

Saturday we got up late and lounged most of the morning away. Once showered we took a walk around the ever changing/developing neighborhood. I can’t believe how much the road has progressed and the houses finished since my last visit! We had a nice lunch at home and then headed out to the outlets and DeWayne’s Nursery. We did a little shopping then went to Cold Stone Creamery.

We enjoyed burgers on the grill for dinner. There was some discussion of a game but it looks like everyone is a little to wiped out for that.

Tomorrow we will head into Raleigh. I’m excited to check it out. There is an art fair this weekend that we hope to see. After we enjoy the sights we are headed back north. Mom will stay another day and help Kate recover from the invasion.

Gram and I are here visiting. We came in yesterday morning. We stopped for a quick lunch at Subway and then went to check out the Farmer’s Market. It was kind of like a county fair only a much more permanent structure. We spent about a half hour looking through the jam, baked goods, and hand-made crafts. Kate and Pat got their tree there the night before. It is really fresh looking and they said the Farmer’s Market put it in the stand for them too. Sweet!

We came home and Gram and I watched Kate and Pat decorate the tree – then it was a quick nap for Gram and me. Pat let us get Chinese for dinner. It was really good and the place even threw in a free order of Crab Rangoons and a 2007 calendar.
The weather here is so warm. Kate and I went for a walk this morning – no coats! We walked all around the new construction area. Our shoes are covered in red dirt, but it was worth it. We saw some deer tracks and different rocks and generally different / interesting topography.
The project for today is to do a little Christmas baking with Kate. Pat had to head back North for a few days at work -in the office. We got to meet Carol – a friend of Jan’s who is super nice and taking Kate and Pat under her wing. She had a great chat / catch-up session with Gram.
Well, I’d better get back to being Kate’s assistant in the kitchen before I get in trouble. ;)

Hi All Rockland-Ave Readers,
They’ve finally pressured me into blogging. :)
This is my first visit down to Kate and Pat in NC. They picked me up at the airport on Saturday morning. Then we came back to their apartment to refresh and have some lunch. After we regrouped it was off to the Homemade Craft Show near the NCSU campus. It was a nice drive and the weather was great – near 80. The craft show was cool. There were lots of interesting crafts – pottery, clothes, candies, photographs, cards and more. But it was extremely crowded and hard to get a good look at stuff. On the way back to Cary we drove around checking out the area. Once back at the apartment – Pat took a nice little nap and Kate and I caught up a little. Then it was out for dinner. We went to the Cheesecake Factory. There was an hour and forty-five minute wait so we walked around the mall for a while. Dinner was good. We rented Friends with Money – it was not as good as Kate and I anticipated.
Today Kate made some tasty cinnamon rolls and we took our time getting ready – a leisurely Sunday morning. We spent some time playing with the kitties. I’ve missed my Moses and Zoe. Zoe has been more friendly to me on this visit. Then we headed out to get lunch on the way to see the new house. The house is really nice! It is much larger than it looks from the outside. The kitchen/living room area will be a great place to gather and entertain. The bedrooms are all a good size and the laundry area is up with the bedrooms – something Kate and Pat will surely appreciate after 5 years of schleping their laundry up and down three flights of stairs. We took a drive around the neighborhood – looks like a nice community. Then we headed to the outlets. Kate and I got matching sweaters (different colors though) and new jeans at the Gap outlet. Then we headed to the Nine West outlet and took advantage of a buy one get one half off special. We walked around for a little longer – it looks like a nice area to shop. On the way back to the apartment we drove back by the house one more time. :) And then stopped at Chili’s for dinner.
It has been a really nice visit. I can’t wait to come back and visit them in their new house! It is back to RI for me bright and early. And you will be back to your normal “blog-masters”.
