I don’t know exactly why it is, but I think of Cass quite often. Really, I do. Her sudden departure was such a shock to all and such a great, great loss. I will never pretend to understand it. It has always felt so wrong to me. Too welcoming, too kind, too great a mother and grandmother to be taken away from all of us so soon. Our relationship should have been strained under the circumstances, but she never allowed it to be that. We had some private conversations, Cass and I, and we both cried a bit. She was happy that Al and I were together and hoped that it would bring us closer to her daughters and I believe it has. I’ve said this before and mean it with all my heart. She raised three amazing daughters. Kind, poised, elegant, fun and caring. She passed on all of her best qualities to her daughters and I know they she will continue to celebrate her daughters joys and be there in their sorrows. She was an amazing woman and I miss her too.

Your mom is watching with great delight and pride. Your husband is your rock, your children your pot of gold. It is not easy to be without your mother, but you have a little bit of her in each member of your amazing extended family.
